About the Role

KFC is excited to welcome a Legal Specialist to its dynamic legal team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient management of legal processes and maintaining compliance across the organization. As a key member of the team, you will handle contract management, litigation, regulatory compliance, and policy support, all while collaborating closely with various internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Contract Management:
    • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of contracts and agreements, ensuring the terms are beneficial for KFC while protecting the organization’s interests.
    • Circulate drafts for internal feedback and secure necessary approvals before finalization, ensuring alignment across departments.
    • Maintain an organized repository for all contracts, tracking key dates and milestones through an Agreement Management Information System (MIS) to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
    • Proactively manage contract renewals and address disputes efficiently, maintaining comprehensive documentation throughout the contract lifecycle.
    • Regularly assess and refine processes to incorporate legal updates and best practices, enhancing overall contract management strategies.
  2. Litigation & Notice Management:
    • Manage legal disputes and lawsuits involving franchisees, vendors, and regulatory bodies, leveraging external counsel when necessary.
    • Prepare legal communications and notices to ensure clarity and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
    • Develop comprehensive briefs for external counsel and coordinate the collection of evidence to support the organization’s position in litigation.
    • Attend court hearings and maintain regular follow-ups with external counsel to ensure timely progress and closure of cases.
    • Manage all invoicing related to legal services, ensuring accuracy and adherence to budget constraints.
    • Prepare and maintain detailed Management Information Systems (MIS) for tracking litigation, invoicing, and notices, providing insights into ongoing legal matters.
  3. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations affecting the organization, ensuring all practices adhere to these requirements.
    • Prepare and submit necessary filings and reports to regulatory authorities in a timely manner.
  4. Research and Policy Support:
    • Assist in developing and implementing internal policies and procedures, ensuring they align with legal standards and best practices.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all operations comply with legal requirements and organizational policies.
    • Provide daily support to all departments on various legal inquiries and work alongside the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) on critical legal matters.

Qualifications

  • Education: A degree in Law (LLB); a Company Secretary (CS) qualification is an added advantage.
  • Experience: 6 to 8 years of relevant legal experience is required, ideally a blend of both law firm and in-house counsel experience.
  • Skills: Strong communication and drafting abilities, proficiency in MS Office, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
