About the M.A. (Mediation & Conflict Resolution) for Executives

MNLU Mumbai’s M.A. (Mediation & Conflict Resolution) is a two-year postgraduate program specifically designed for working professionals. The program, introduced in 2020, focuses on equipping participants with conflict resolution skills essential for managing workplace and social disputes. Based on its success and feedback from the first three batches, the program has been restructured to provide an advanced and comprehensive learning experience.

Mediation has gained global importance as a cost-effective and expedient dispute resolution mechanism. Through this program, professionals from various industries will learn the skills needed to resolve conflicts efficiently, contributing to their organizations and enhancing their professional growth.

Participants will gain not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills, including case-based learning and simulations. Upon completion, graduates will be recognized as Accredited Mediators by MNLU’s Centre for Mediation and Research (CMR).

The curriculum is divided into four semesters, each designed to cover different aspects of mediation and conflict resolution:

  • Referred/Court Annexed Mediation
  • Academic Writing in Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Semester II:
  • Comparative Conflict Resolution Processes
  • Emerging Areas in Mediation & Law
  • Communication Science
  • Semester III:
  • Neuro-Psychological Analysis of Conflict
  • Restorative Justice
  • International Negotiation & Diplomatic Bargaining
  • Semester IV:
  • Online Mediation & Artificial Intelligence
  • Mediation and Emotions
  • Dissertation

The syllabus has been designed with industry and academia inputs, ensuring students receive a holistic and updated education.


Eligibility

To apply for this program, candidates must hold a degree in any discipline. Those appearing for their qualifying exams in May/June 2024 are also eligible to apply.


Examination Scheme

The evaluation will be based on continuous assessments, including class participation, presentations, projects, and role plays (50%), as well as an end-term examination (50%).


Attendance and Participation

The program is structured to accommodate working professionals. Classes will be held on select days each month, with flexible hours. However, participants are required to maintain 70% attendance in all subjects to qualify for the end-term examination. In exceptional cases, recordings of missed classes will be available, but attendees must submit reflection questions to gain attendance.

Fees and Payment Details

The total fee for the two-year program is ₹1,20,000, payable in four installments:

  • 1st Semester: ₹30,000 (including a non-refundable admission fee of ₹15,000)
  • 2nd Semester: ₹30,000
  • 3rd Semester: ₹30,000
  • 4th Semester: ₹30,000

Participants are required to attend six days of contact classes at the MNLU Mumbai campus in Powai. Lodging and boarding fees are not included in the program fees.
