About the Event:

The 1st International Mediation Championship (I-IMC) is the latest offering by Infinity Lexathon Society, and it promises to be an exciting opportunity for law students to test their mediation skills on a global stage. The competition will take place online on October 5-6, 2024. Participants will have the opportunity to mediate real-world legal disputes, enhancing their understanding of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms.

This competition is designed to help students develop essential skills such as negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution—skills that are critical for success in the legal profession. Participants will engage in various rounds of mediation, representing clients and counsel in simulated disputes. Each round will focus on resolving a legal problem through effective negotiation and mediation techniques. The event will culminate in a final round, where the best teams will compete for the championship title.

Event Structure:

The competition will feature multiple rounds, including:

  1. Preliminary Rounds: All registered teams will participate.
  2. Quarter-Finals: The top 8 teams from the preliminaries will move forward.
  3. Semi-Finals: The best 4 teams will advance.
  4. Final Round: The top 2 teams will compete for the championship title.

The rounds will take place online via Zoom, with each session timed and judged by experienced mediators and legal professionals. The rounds will include opening statements, caucuses, and closing arguments, providing a comprehensive learning experience for participants.

Eligibility:

  • Open to law students enrolled in an undergraduate LL.B. degree program or equivalent.
  • Each institution can send up to five teams.
  • Each team will consist of three members: two as “Client” and “Counsel” and one as “Mediator.”

Prizes and Awards:

  • Winner: Cash prize of ₹25,000
  • Runner-Up: Cash prize of ₹15,000
  • Best Negotiating Team: Special recognition
  • Certificates: E-certificates of participation for all participants and merit certificates for teams advancing to the finals.

  • Last Date of Provisional Registration: September 16, 2024
  • Last Date for Final Registration: September 26, 2024

Registration Process:

To register for the 1st International Mediation Championship, follow these steps:

  1. Provisional Registration:
    • Complete the provisional registration form available at this link by September 16, 2024.
  2. Final Registration:
    • Once your provisional registration is accepted, you will receive a final registration form to complete all formalities.
  3. Registration Fee:
    • National Teams (India): ₹4,000 per team
    • International Teams: 60 USD per team
  4. Payment Details:
    • Payment can be made via BHIM-UPI (Google Pay/PhonePe) to the UPI ID: 7338686969@ybl
    • Alternatively, teams can transfer the amount online via NEFT to Account Number: 35381164250 (IFSC: SBIN0003357, Account Holder: Pranav N)

Once the payment is made, teams must upload a scanned copy of the transaction receipt in the registration form. No refunds will be issued unless the event is canceled.
