About the University/Organization

KLE Society was established on 13 November 1916 as an Anglo-Vernacular School and has since grown into one of India’s most respected educational networks, comprising 296 institutions with over 1,38,000 students and 18,000 staff members. These institutions span diverse faculties such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Medicine, Engineering, Dental, Pharmacy, Architecture, Law, Nursing, Ayurveda, Management, IT, and Computer Science. KLE institutions are recognized for their academic excellence, world-class infrastructure, and NAAC/University/NAB approvals.

KLE College of Law, Navi Mumbai, founded in 2016–17 under the aegis of the KLE Society, is affiliated with the University of Mumbai and recognized by the Bar Council of India. The college offers LL.B. (3 Years), B.A. LL.B. (5 Years), and certificate courses in Cyber Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Human Rights, and English Language. It is committed to spreading legal awareness, empowering marginalized communities, and providing high-quality legal education.


About the Event

The National Legislative Drafting Competition aims to foster legal innovation and policy reform in addressing pressing legal and social issues. This year’s theme, Artificial Intelligence and Crime, challenges participants to draft legislation that is anticipatory, rights-based, and internationally harmonized.

The competition encourages participants to think like future lawmakers, creating Bills that balance innovation protection with justice in the digital era. Topics include AI systems, deepfakes, algorithmic bias, AI-enabled crime, AI system regulations, definitions of AI-related crimes, criminal liability, and enforcement mechanisms.

Format and Structure

Participants must submit a Bill on any aspect of AI and Crime, following these guidelines:

  • Length: Minimum 10 pages, maximum 25 pages
  • Format: Times New Roman, Size 12, 1.5 spacing, justified text
  • Authorship: Up to 2 co-authors (both must register and pay separately)
  • Submission: Email to competitions@klecollegeoflawmumbai.edu.in with the subject line: Bill Submission for National Legislative Drafting Competition
  • Plagiarism Check: Bills will undergo AI and plagiarism checks (up to 30% permitted)
  • Evaluation Criteria: Originality, clarity, legal acumen, structure, and adherence to guidelines

Selected winners will be announced after evaluation by the organizing committee, whose decision will be final.
