About the Event

CriminoLex: The Drafting and Judgment Battle is a National Online Moot Court Competition designed to test and sharpen judicial reasoning and drafting skills.

Unlike traditional moots, this unique competition places emphasis on charge framing and judgment writing, allowing participants to immerse themselves in practical tasks reflective of courtroom proceedings.

The event is especially significant as it integrates the new criminal law regime under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023. It is an opportunity for law students to test their analytical clarity, reasoning, and writing skills while engaging directly with contemporary legal frameworks.

Format and Structure

The competition will be conducted in two rounds:

  • Round 1: Participants receive a problem for charge framing and judgment writing. Submissions are to be made the same day. Top 10 teams will qualify for the final round.
  • Round 2: The selected finalists will be given a fresh problem and must submit both charge framing and judgment writing by the same evening.

Evaluation Criteria (100 marks total):

  • Preparation of Facts – 20
  • Identification of Issues – 20
  • Analytical Reasoning – 20
  • Authorities & Statutes – 20
  • Presentation & Formatting – 10
  • Knowledge of Legal Principles – 10

Plagiarism above 10% will lead to disqualification.
