The Centre for Labour Law Research and Advocacy (CLLRA) at the National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi), proudly announces the inaugural edition of the NLU Delhi Journal on ‘Labour’. Themed \’Sociology of Labour,\’ this journal aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of labour issues through interdisciplinary research and scholarly discourse. This call for papers invites researchers, academicians, practitioners, and students to contribute original and insightful articles to this esteemed publication.

NLU Delhi, established in 2008, has emerged as a leading institution for legal education and research in India. The university is dedicated to promoting excellence in teaching, research, and advocacy in various fields of law. The Centre for Labour Law Research and Advocacy (CLLRA) is a specialized center within NLU Delhi that focuses on advancing the study and practice of labour law. CLLRA aims to address contemporary challenges in labour relations, policy, and governance through rigorous research and dialogue.

Call for Papers: Themes and Sub-Themes

The NLU Delhi Journal on ‘Labour’ seeks to explore diverse aspects of labour and employment through a sociological lens. Authors are encouraged to submit papers on the following sub-themes:

• Nature of Work, Work Relationship, and Occupational Style: Examining the dynamics of work relationships and occupational practices in various sectors.
• Sectors within Informal/Formal Economy and Political Economy: Analyzing the roles and contributions of different sectors within the informal and formal economies.
• Labour and Development Discourse on Work: Exploring the interplay between labour and development, and its implications for policy and practice.
• Feminist Analysis of Labour, Migration, and Development: Investigating the gendered dimensions of labour, migration, and development.
• Intersectional Analysis of Labour Confluence: Understanding how various social identities intersect and affect labour experiences.
• Marginalised Labour Categories and Historical Injustices: Addressing issues faced by marginalized labour groups and historical injustices.
• Structure of Labour Law and Its Influence on Labouring Lives: Evaluating the impact of labour laws on workers\’ lives and livelihoods.
• Just Transition Debates on Labour: Discussing the concept of just transition in the context of labour and employment.
• New Industries, New Cities, and New Labour: Investigating the emergence of new industries and their effects on labour in urban environments.
• Urban Development and Labour: Examining the relationship between urban development and labour issues.

Types of Submissions

The journal welcomes a variety of submission types, allowing for a broad range of perspectives and research methodologies:

• Special Articles (8000-10,000 words): Comprehensive studies that provide deep insights into specific aspects of labour sociology.
• Short Articles (5000-8000 words): Focused analyses on particular issues or case studies.
• Insights/Perspectives (3500-4500 words): Thought-provoking pieces that offer new perspectives or interpretations.
• Book Reviews/Case Notes (2500-3000 words): Critical reviews of recent publications or significant case law.
• Field Notes/Pictorial Commentaries (1-2 Pages): Visual and narrative accounts of field experiences related to labour studies.

Submission Guidelines

All submissions must adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a standardized and rigorous review process:

• Abstract: Each submission (excluding book reviews) must include an abstract of no more than 300 words and 5 key keywords.
• Formatting: Manuscripts should be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1.5 line spacing. Footnotes should be in Times New Roman, font size 10, with single line spacing.
• Citation Style: Referencing and citations must conform to the APA Citation style.
• Submission Portal: All submissions must be made online at the submission portal cllra.com or via email at jol@nludelhi.ac.in.

To ensure timely processing and publication, please adhere to the following timeline:

• 20th July 2024: Paper submission begins
• 30th November 2024: Paper submission deadline
• 15th February 2025: Acceptance and review process completion
• 30th April 2025: Final acceptance and confirmation
• 15th July 2025: Publication date
