About the PhD Data Partner Position

As a Data Partner, you will develop, refine, and review a specialized legal dataset that will serve as a foundation for training AI language models in understanding complex legal scenarios. The dataset will be structured with multi-step reasoning questions and detailed grading rubrics to challenge AI in processing nuanced legal information.

Key Responsibilities
- Data Creation and Development
- Design sophisticated, multi-step reasoning questions that cover complex legal scenarios, with a focus on challenging existing AI language models.
- Develop detailed question-answer pairs, ensuring clarity and accuracy to support robust AI training datasets.
- Prepare comprehensive grading rubrics that standardize the evaluation of AI model responses and enable consistent performance assessments.
- Content Review and Peer Evaluation
- Engage in a structured peer review process to validate the quality, difficulty, and clarity of the dataset entries.
- Collaborate with peers to reach consensus on grading standards and question difficulty, maintaining high-quality dataset integrity.
- Supplementary Materials and Metadata
- Create and organize metadata and supplementary materials for each question, facilitating better AI training and model understanding.
- Ensure each question is accompanied by relevant contextual information to enhance the learning potential for AI systems.
- Quality Assurance and Consistency
- Regularly monitor and maintain consistency in the dataset’s content, following TELUS’s quality standards.

Basic Requirements
