About the Event

The 2nd National Trial Advocacy and Judgment Writing Competition 2024 is a prestigious event hosted by the Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University. It focuses on nurturing advocacy and judgment writing skills among law students. Participants will compete in a realistic courtroom setting, arguing complex legal cases and drafting judgments based on the proceedings. The event also includes a Client Counselling Competition, making it a comprehensive legal competition.

Event Dates

The competition will take place from 25th to 27th October 2024. It is a three-day event, which will begin with the Inaugural Ceremony followed by various rounds of trial advocacy and judgment writing.

Formatting and Structure

The competition will be conducted in offline mode at the JNU campus. It includes:

• Trial Advocacy Rounds: Teams of three members will argue cases in both prosecution and defense roles.
• Judgment Writing Competition: Mandatory for all teams, to be held on the first day after the inaugural ceremony.
• Client Counselling Competition: Offers participants a chance to hone client interaction skills.

Participants must submit memorials for both the prosecution and defense sides, adhering to the strict formatting guidelines provided by the organizers.

• Team Composition: Each team consists of 3 members (2 speakers and 1 researcher).
• Dress Code: Formal attire is mandatory, including black blazers and ties.

Location

The competition will be held at Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University, Jagatpura, Jaipur, Rajasthan. The university campus is well-equipped to host such events, offering accommodation and other amenities for participants.

• Registration Fee: ₹5,000 per team, inclusive of accommodation.
• Last Date to Register: 10th October 2024.

The total prize pool is worth ₹70,000, including cash prizes and trophies in various categories:

• Winner: ₹25,000 + Trophy
• Runners-Up: ₹15,000 + Trophy
• Best Judgment Writing Award: ₹5,000 + Trophy
• Best Memorial Award: ₹6,000 + Trophy
• Best Student Counsel Award: ₹7,000 + Trophy
• Best Trial Award: ₹7,000 + Trophy

Additional Details

• Accommodation: Provided from 25th to 27th October 2024 for all participants. Participants arriving earlier or leaving later will need to pay extra accommodation fees.
• Transportation: Pickup and drop services will be provided from the accommodation site to the university and from Jaipur airport or railway stations (on request).
• Miscellaneous: Participants must adhere to a strict no-drinking and no-smoking policy on campus and at the accommodation site.
