Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is an independent think tank dedicated to improving governance and laws in India through high-quality legal research and policy-making. Supported by the Forbes Marshall Foundation, Vidhi’s initiatives include engaging with governments, promoting public discourse, and addressing critical societal issues.
About the VALE Fellowship
The VALE (Vidhi Access to Legal Education) Fellowship is a year-long program aimed at empowering law students from marginalized communities. This initiative provides mentorship, training, and practical exposure, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world legal policy-making. The fellowship fosters collaboration through Kautilya Societies, established at India’s top law schools.
Program Highlights:
- Orientation & Training: Month-long hybrid sessions on legal research, writing, communication, and legislative drafting by experts.
- Attachment Program: One-month offline engagement with Vidhi’s Delhi, Karnataka, or Maharashtra offices, offering hands-on experience in legal policy-making.
- Campus-Based Initiatives: Webinars, workshops, research projects, and competitions to foster peer learning.
- Mentorship: Comprehensive support for skill and career development.
Eligibility
- Open to law students from the University of Kashmir and its affiliated colleges.
- Individuals from SC/ST communities, minority religions, LGBTQ+ community, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Application Process
- Submit your application here with:
- A CV (max 2 pages).
- A 700-word statement on:
- Background and challenges faced.
- Career objectives (short-term: 3–5 years; long-term: 5–10 years).
- How the fellowship aligns with these objectives.
Selection Process
- Applications will be evaluated based on submitted documents.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews (multiple rounds if necessary).
- A total of 10 fellows will be selected.

- Call for Applications: 17th December 2024
- Last Date to Apply: 5th January 2025
- Notification of Selection: 10th January 2025
- Orientation: 1st – 7th February 2025
- Attachment Program: 1st – 31st May 2025
Stipend & Financial Support
- ₹20,000 during the attachment program.
