About the Position

The Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel – Artificial Intelligence role at Infosys is a unique opportunity for experienced legal professionals with a technical background. This position focuses on navigating the legal complexities of AI technologies, intellectual property (IP), cybersecurity, and emerging regulatory frameworks. The selected candidate will collaborate with technology and business teams, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with AI-related standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on compliance requirements related to AI technologies.
• Develop and implement organizational processes for AI adoption.
• Review and negotiate AI-related terms in vendor and client contracts.
• Conduct risk assessments for proprietary product/platform development, focusing on IP and AI.
• Manage contracts, including MSA, software licenses, SaaS agreements, and MOUs.
• Support technology teams with open-source compliance processes.
• Handle cybersecurity-related issues and establish practical frameworks for managing incidents.
• Advise on online legal issues, including intermediary liability, web crawling, and IP enforcement.
• Draft cease-and-desist notices and communications on IP infringement.
• Conduct legal research on emerging technology areas and develop training materials for internal teams.

Qualifications

• Education: Technical degree (preferably in electronics/software) combined with LLB.
• Experience: 6–10 years in corporate legal roles, with exposure to technology and AI.
• Professional Expertise:
  • Strong knowledge of AI fundamentals and regulatory trends in the EU and US.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycles and emerging technologies like AI, IoT, and Cloud.
  • Clear understanding of IP concepts (patents, copyright, trade secrets).
  • Practical experience in handling software industry risks, licensing principles, and derivative works.
  • Knowledge of open-source license compliance.
