This role will be based at Grasim, the flagship company of the Group, renowned for its operational excellence and commitment to environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance and Legal Advisory:

Provide specialized legal counsel to senior management regarding compliance, environmental regulations, and other regulatory matters.
Oversee and monitor environmental clearances and permissions across business units to ensure alignment with applicable laws.
Analyze emerging trends and legal best practices; keep stakeholders informed with regular updates and training on new legal and regulatory developments.

Litigation and Case Management:

Lead litigation efforts related to environmental compliance, including cases at the National Green Tribunal (NGT), High Courts, and the Supreme Court.
Collaborate with Advocates on Record (AOR), track the status of cases, attend hearings, and develop strategic case defenses.
Offer support to business units in responding to Show Cause Notices (SCNs) from authorities regarding environmental laws.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Compliance:

Stay updated on ESG trends, provide advisories on regulatory changes, and assess business units for compliance with environmental regulations.
Conduct compliance audits, identify key issues, and recommend actionable solutions to bridge compliance gaps.

Legal Research and Policy Development:

Conduct in-depth legal research to guide business decision-making and provide insights on laws with ambiguous or evolving interpretations.
Draft policies, training materials, and standardize legal compliance procedures to ensure alignment with industry best practices.

Stakeholder and Government Liaison:

Establish and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, regulators, and external advisors (lawyers, auditors).
Collaborate with internal and unit counsels to support legal requirements and address emerging issues effectively.

Key Qualifications

Education: LL.B or LL.M with 5-10 years of experience in regulatory compliance, environmental law, or related fields.
Industry Experience: Proven track record in a regulated industry, ideally with a multinational company or law firm specializing in compliance management.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of legal, regulatory, and compliance principles both domestically and internationally.
Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication with internal teams and external authorities; strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Additional Skills: Experience in strategic litigation management, risk assessment, legal research, and environmental compliance is highly valued.
