About the Position
Onix is seeking a Legal Specialist to join its Pune-based team. This role is ideal for a legal professional with extensive experience in corporate law, technology law, and contract management, who can effectively navigate both Indian and international legal frameworks. The Legal Specialist will work on a range of legal matters, including intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and cross-border transactions, supporting the company’s operations and growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Contract Drafting and Negotiation
   • Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, including software licensing, SaaS agreements, and partnership contracts.
   • Manage both customer and vendor agreements, such as Master Services Agreements and Statements of Work.
2. Compliance and Regulatory Affairs
   • Ensure compliance with Indian and international regulations, including data protection laws (e.g., GDPR and the Indian Data Protection Bill).
   • Develop and implement internal compliance policies.
3. Intellectual Property Management
   • Advise on IP rights protection related to product development, covering trademarks, patents, copyrights, and trade secrets.
4. Litigation and Dispute Resolution
   • Handle disputes and collaborate with external counsel as needed.
5. Corporate Governance
   • Provide legal counsel on corporate policies, governance matters, and company structuring.
6. Risk Management
   • Identify and mitigate potential legal risks, conduct legal audits, and ensure adherence to internal risk policies.
7. Stakeholder Collaboration
   • Work closely with product, sales, finance, and HR teams to support various legal needs and provide training on legal matters.
8. International Legal Matters
   • Assist with compliance for international expansion, trade regulations, and cross-border agreements.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

• Education: LLB/LLM from a recognized Indian law school.
• Experience: 3-10 years in a technology company or law firm, with expertise in corporate and technology law.
• Technical Skills: Strong background in software licensing, IP law, and data protection laws.
• Other Skills: Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, and litigation skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Preferred Experience: Experience with startups or product-based software companies and knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
