About UPES Dehradun

Established in 2003 through the UPES Act of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand, the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) Dehradun is a multidisciplinary institution known for academic excellence and industry-aligned programs. About the Event

The 5th Surana & Surana and UPES School of Law National Insolvency Law Moot Court Competition is a prestigious national-level event focused on the nuances of insolvency and bankruptcy law. Organized by UPES Dehradun in collaboration with Surana & Surana International Attorneys, this competition serves as a platform for law students to delve into complex legal problems and showcase their advocacy and research skills.

The moot problem is centered around contemporary issues under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore emerging jurisprudence in the field. It aims to simulate real-world litigation practice in the area of insolvency law, judged by esteemed legal professionals, academicians, and practitioners.

Event Dates

Format/Structure

The competition follows the standard moot court format comprising memorial submission and oral rounds. Teams must submit memorials for both sides (Petitioner and Respondent) prior to the oral rounds. The oral rounds will be conducted in an offline mode at the UPES campus in Dehradun, judged by a distinguished panel of experts from academia and the legal profession. Detailed rules and scoring criteria are provided in the official brochure.

The event will take place at the UPES School of Law, Dehradun campus, located amidst the scenic beauty of Uttarakhand, providing a conducive environment for legal learning and networking.
