The National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi (NUSRL), established under the NUSRL Act 2010 by the Jharkhand Government, is dedicated to advancing legal education and research in India. The Centre for Consumer Research and Policy (CCRP) at NUSRL Ranchi is dedicated to protecting consumer rights and fostering consumer awareness in India. Led by Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil, NUSRL’s Vice-Chancellor, the Centre works on various facets of consumer rights, providing a forum for research, education, and advocacy to combat unfair trade practices and improve grievance redressal mechanisms. CCRP actively promotes the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, addressing contemporary consumer issues in sectors such as e-commerce, healthcare, financial services, and more. Through workshops, legal literacy campaigns, and policy recommendations, CCRP collaborates with regulatory agencies, NGOs, and academia to bolster consumer rights and make the marketplace more transparent.
The National Moot Court Competition on Consumer Protection Laws 2024 is a prestigious national-level competition designed for law students passionate about consumer law and rights. This event is supported by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution, Government of India, and is aimed at encouraging in-depth exploration of consumer protection law, including unfair trade practices, e-commerce issues, and consumer rights. Participants will have the chance to demonstrate their understanding of these laws through written and oral advocacy, gaining valuable exposure to real-world legal challenges and opportunities to hone their skills in legal research, drafting, and courtroom etiquette.
This moot competition will engage students in a simulated courtroom experience, pushing them to propose innovative solutions to the complex problems faced by consumers today. Participants will tackle legal issues such as advertising ethics, product safety, service quality, and more, enhancing their problem-solving skills and enriching their knowledge of consumer law.

Memorials must be submitted electronically in both PDF and Word formats to ccrp@nusrlranchi.ac.in by 11:59 PM on 5th November 2024. Late submissions incur penalties, with disqualification after a specific period.
All fees are non-refundable, and teams can register by filling out the Google Form here. Upon registration, teams will receive a unique code for all competition correspondence.
